The Fast Diet
09th June 2013
A colleague at work has been on the fast diet since the first week of March 2013.
So far she has lost just under two stone (28 pounds). She can’t recommend this enough especially as it has finally helped her shift the roll of fat around her stomach, where she’s lost inches.
I decided to join her on this as did another colleague. Our fast days are Monday and Wednesday. We lunch together on Fridays to discuss our progress and offer each other support.
My stats on day 1 were;
Neck 14.9 inches
Waist 41.5 inches
My first fast day was on Monday the 3rd of June 2013. I ate cottage cheese, a tin of tuna, a salad and some crisp bread and I managed to stay at around 550kals. Not quite 500 but nearly and I’m not going to beat myself up about that.
The first day I could hear my stomach rumbling but it was manageable because I knew that I could eat normally again the next day. I planned what I was going to eat the day before and took it all to work with me on the Monday. As I’m combining my 5:2 with five days of the 8 hour diet I did not eat until 12 noon. I made sure that I didn’t eat after 8pm.
The week was manageable and on Wednesday I had no issues waiting until 12 noon.
I shot myself in the foot a bit at the weekend when I was out and about and went to the cinema with the kids but again I’m not going to cry about that as it was not a fast day and I didn’t go mad.
10th June 2013
This is my eighth day on the 5; 2 way of life.
I’m not calling it a diet because I’m aiming for it to be a change within me.
A new way of life.
There are four things that I need to incorporate into my life right now;
1. Drink more water
2. Move more
3. Fast twice a week
4. 12pm to 8pm eating period on Mondays through to Fridays
I believe that this is the recipe for my weight management success.
No more faddy diets, no mind bending gym sessions, no more self-denial.
There are two tools that I’m using daily;
My fitness pal
My water bottle
And I’m using my bikes both stationary and on at least one day’s commute to work.
My stats on day 8 were;
Neck 14 inches (- 0.9)
Waist 40.3 inches (- 1.2)
Weight 239llb (- 10)
