I need to learn how to smile

Sat in a car you twisted curls around your fingers.
I wanted to lean in,
Rest my head against your chest.
To just sleep there.
You whispered ‘Ko possible’
And captured more pieces of the secret me,
My surrender complete
I walked away without looking back
Leaving my heart in the passengers seat.

First time was the intensity

Fear of being caught, the urgency

Not a moment more could pass between our skin

Pressed together to pulled each other in.

The second time a hunger

To smell, touch, taste, a celebration

Of our absent love bought back before us

Reaffirmed emotions a reassurance.

Lastly was the remembrance

Sliding tongue against skin and crevice

A languid loss of urgency

Complete submission to sensuality.
