I’ve read that arrogance is a protective mechanism to cover self-doubt but I wonder about that. I think it’s success run amok. Success having gained too much confidence. An arrogant person starts out modest or humble, then succeeds and gradually gets built up to the point that humility is gone and now every further success, however small, reaffirms the idea that one is really a superior being. With better thought patterns, reasoning and judgment, I guess all evidence thus far has proven these to be traits that ensure success, so far. Perhaps life has not finished with these types, and while they believe they are apart from other lesser beings, their own peculiar foible has not been exposed. I think we all try to disguise…
