I tread carefully

Past your fears, hesitation and regrets

You invite me to dance in the light of your hope

To wrap my thighs around obvious desire

Whispering softly how change should come

But all see fear burns like ice

And roots one in the mire

We tread carefully

Through the thirst, longing and numbness

While seeking small assurances

Fingers splayed and empty and strained

Waiting for the moment to touch

Knowing time is too short

To let the other drift on by

Like wishes we’ve whispered in the dark of night

Or moments in the bathroom

Or dreams behind the eye
